Verse for your browser

An assistant in a panel beside the page you're on. It reads the page, answers questions about it, and clicks, types and fills in forms for you. It asks before it acts.

Add it in a minute

Verse isn't in the browser stores yet, so your browser loads it from a folder you keep, with developer mode on.

In Chrome

  1. Unzip the download. Keep the folder somewhere it can stay, such as Documents: Chrome loads Verse from it each time it starts.
  2. Go to chrome://extensions Type or paste it into the address bar: a web page can't link to it.
  3. Turn on Developer mode, top right. Chrome may remind you now and then that developer-mode extensions are on; that's expected.
  4. Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder, the one with manifest.json directly inside it.
  5. Pin Verse. Click the puzzle piece in the toolbar, then the pin next to Verse Chrome. Its icon opens the side panel; so does Alt+Shift+V.

In Edge

  1. Unzip the download. Keep the folder somewhere it can stay, such as Documents: Edge loads Verse from it each time it starts.
  2. Go to edge://extensions Type or paste it into the address bar: a web page can't link to it.
  3. Turn on Developer mode, in the pane on the left. Edge may warn you at startup about developer-mode extensions; keep Verse turned on.
  4. Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder, the one with manifest.json directly inside it.
  5. Show the icon. Edge hides new extensions: click the puzzle piece in the toolbar, then the eye next to Verse Edge. Its icon opens Verse in Edge's sidebar; so does Alt+Shift+V.

In Brave

  1. Unzip the download. Keep the folder somewhere it can stay, such as Documents: Brave loads Verse from it each time it starts.
  2. Go to brave://extensions Type or paste it into the address bar: a web page can't link to it.
  3. Turn on Developer mode, top right. Brave may remind you now and then that developer-mode extensions are on; that's expected.
  4. Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder, the one with manifest.json directly inside it.
  5. Pin Verse. Click the puzzle piece in the toolbar, then the pin next to Verse Brave. Its icon opens the side panel; so does Alt+Shift+V. Research searches with Brave Search unless you choose another engine.

In Opera

  1. Unzip the download. Keep the folder somewhere it can stay, such as Documents: Opera loads Verse from it each time it starts.
  2. Go to opera://extensions Type or paste it into the address bar: a web page can't link to it.
  3. Turn on Developer mode, top right.
  4. Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder, the one with manifest.json directly inside it.
  5. Open Verse from the sidebar, the strip of icons on the left of the window. If its icon isn't there, open the sidebar's settings (the … at its bottom) and turn Verse on. Alt+Shift+V opens it too. Opera doesn't let extensions open the sidebar themselves, so the toolbar icon only tells you where Verse is.

Connect your account

Once it's added, Verse opens a welcome page that asks for an API key and secret. Make a pair in your account's Developer Settings. The secret is shown only once, so paste it straight in.

Answers are paid from your VXT balance, and each one shows what it cost. You can set a spending limit for each request in Verse's settings.

It asks before it acts

Reading
Verse reads the page you're on without asking.
Acting
Clicking, typing, choosing from lists, opening pages and running code each ask first. You answer once, always for that site, or never.
Auto mode
Skips most questions, but still asks before typing a password or card details, and before going to a site you didn't name.
Never-touch sites
Banks, payment services and password managers are off limits from the start. Add your own in Verse's settings.
Your key
Your API key and secret stay in your browser. Each request is encrypted with the secret before it's sent.

Updating

Download the new version and unzip it into the same folder, replacing the files. Then click Reload on the Verse card in your browser's extensions page. Keeping the same folder keeps your settings and conversations.
